16 of Canada's best Freestylers were hard at work perfecting their swift moves proving why they earned their spot in the Canada's Red Bull Street Style National Final.

CBC's atrium was transformed and became the baller's battlefield as a field of 16 was ultimately narrowed down to 1. But it was Jaime "Magnet" Bruno who wowed the crowd, impressed the judges and defeated last year's champion, Jose Avalos. The Scarborough native, Magnet, elevated the energy and grabbed the crown by displaying innovative style and astonishing creativity in his body use.

“It’s the best day of my life. I didn’t spend one day without my ball. My goal for this year was to make at least the top 16,” said 20 year old Canadian Red Bull Street Style Champion Magnet. “It’s such a good feeling.”

2008 Canadian Champion Jose “Avalos” from Toronto came in a close second place, with his extraordinary display of fancy footwork and ball control that impressed the panel of celebrity judges, which included soccer commentator for the CBC and former professional soccer player – Jason De Vos, Toronto FC star midfielder – Dwayne De Rosario, and legendary B-Boy Benzo. The event was hosted by pioneer of Freestyle Soccer Eli Freeze.

Alexandre “Alex” Tremblay from St-Nicolas, QC finished in third place. “It’s a big surprise. The guys have a different style than me so I didn’t know what to expect,” said Alex.

US Freestyle Soccer Champion: Angelo Storms

US Champion

Freestyle Soccer Winner to Represent the U.S. at World Finals in Cape Town Atlanta, GA (February 20, 2010) – Angelo Storms of Rome, New York, was crowed US Champion on Saturday, February 20th at Atlanta’s very own Center Stage. More than 400 spectators filled the concert venue to cheer on 12 of the nation’s best freestyle soccer players who ranged in age from 18 to 32. The contestants stepped up to the challenge and juggled and entertained the crowd to the beats of celebrity DJ, World Famous G-Mack.

“To win the U.S. final is a dream!” says Angelo Storms. “I can’t wait to face the best in the world at South Africa. I’ve been training for six years for this and it’s like a dream come true. To be one of the best in the world and represent my country, it’s unbelievable.”

Capturing second place was Georgia local, Erick Farfan, who put up a solid fight in the round with his intense attention to detail and crowd winning personality, while Miami native John Fredy Moncada’s witty style and original moves earned him third place.

Not only did Angelo take the US title, but now he advances to represent his country at the World Finals in Cape Town, South Africa from April 26 – 28th. He will face more than 50 country finalists from across the globe to battle it out for the ultimate title – Red Bull Street Style World Champion.
